Tierra y Vida - Monica Gisel & Martin Moreno

Tierra y Vida brings together Mexican and Chicano perspectives in a compelling exhibition by artists Mónica Gisel and Martín Moreno. Mónica Gisel uses painting and printmaking to explore spirituality, migration, identity, and ancestral memory. She is a Mexican-born, Zapotec-descended artist and educator. As an artist-in-residence for various institutions and organizations, Gisel has developed her passion for community engagement. She has illustrated books and magazines and has participated in three anthologies as both a writer and illustrator. Martín Moreno's work honors the dignity of labor, oral tradition, family, and the enduring relationship between people and the land. Moreno is widely recognized as an inspirational figure in the Chicano Art Movement. His artistic contributions have been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions. Moreno was awarded the Arizona Governor’s Arts Award in 2011 for his enduring impact on arts and education.
