About This Event

New or seasoned collector? Join the Soul Center of Art & History as we explore how to build & preserve legacy through art with Jenita Landrum & guest collector Beverly Ray. What does it mean to collect art? It is far more than decorating a room. It is an act of cultural stewardship, economic empowerment, and historical preservation. Join us at the Soul Center of Art & History Museum for an intimate Art Collectors’ Circle. This session is grounded in Halima Taha’s landmark book, Collecting African American Art: Works on Paper and Canvas. Whether you are buying your very first piece or deepening your practice as a seasoned collector, this space is designed to welcome and empower you. Facilitated by world-renowned artist Jenita Landrum, MFA, this workshop equips you with essential tools to build a meaningful collection: * Why We Collect: Claiming your role in cultural stewardship and legacy. * The Buyer’s Checklist: Vital questions to ask before acquiring any piece. * Starting Your Journey: Practical steps to begin or expand with intention. We are also honored to welcome featured guest speaker and art collector Beverly Ray. She will share her personal journey into collecting and showcase select treasures from her private collection. Your collection grows here!
