Sugarcane, the stunning debut feature documentary from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie, shines a light on the generations of harm experienced by Indigenous people of North America from Indian Residential Schools. The film is also the first ever film directed by a North American Indigenous person to be nominated for an Academy Award in any category.
Sugarcane is a 2025 Oscars® Nominee for Documentary Feature and the winner of the U.S. Documentary Directing Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Rated R, 107 min.
