About This Event

RB Anderson (Russ) will be Speaking and Giving a Live Demonstration of his Watercolor Style - Painting a Pet Portrait This live presentation will include a step-by-step demonstration. Starting with a ghost wash, sneaking up to darker tones using wet on wet and dry brush. I'll explain each step, the reason I use this style and show how it works on a large screen so participants can easily see.

As a 4th generation artist I realized my love of art at an early age, painting beside my mother in Taos and Santa Fe as she followed her art career. Growing up in New Mexico during the creative cultural history of the 60s where I was further influenced by art instructor Frank McCulloch who explained that art was about self expression. Because of McCulloch impact, I was later drawn to teaching art. A few years later, in Colorado, I received a BS in commercial art, then moved to San Francisco where my art grew at the Institute of Art. In San Francisco works of art were created for notable musicians such as Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and John Paul Jones. I taught art classes for the first time during the late 70’s in San Francisco. Eventually my wife and I headed to Arizona where a strong desire to improve my art led to various art festivals coffee house installations and juried shows, selling many works to private collectors. I continued to paint and instruct art for both conventional fine art, and digital art .
