FOUND + FORAGED - AUTUMN LEARN NATURAL INK & PIGMENT MAKING WITH JILL SANS Sunday October 18th, 12-4pm Discovery Village of MNA, Guernsey Building 3101 N. Fort Valley Road, Flagstaff AZ $160 materials included, payment plan available if registered before September 30th To prepare for each student and give proper planning, Registration closes October 11th Found + Foraged is an art experience that takes you on the journey of process, to observe and connect to nature seasonally, take in what is around you and to create in the present moment of place and time. We will learn about plant pigment, how to create inks from plant material available to you in the kitchen or outside your door, and from there we learn additional steps to transform plant pigment into lake pigment, to watercolor, to pastel. You will go home with an understanding of the basic steps to make your own art materials from the natural world. A connection through observation, to mindfulness creation. All students will leave with a little nature art box to create at home with; including inks, watercolor and pastel. We will end the session with an art activity that is accessible for all levels of creativity. All materials are provided, we will do a short mini walk around the garden but all harvesting will have been done beforehand. Found + Foraged will give you the basic knowledge in how to collect ethically and sustainably. Ages 18 and up

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Flagstaff, Arizona, known for my mixed media works, murals, and public art. My art often incorporates themes of environmental consciousness, spirituality, and connection to the natural world. I create using sustainable materials, including botanical inks made from foraged plants, which allow me to maintain a direct relationship with the earth. My practice often explores intricate details such as hand-stitched accents and block-printed patterns, embodying ideas of healing and tradition. My journey into art has been influenced by my studies in art, design and anthropology, as well as my experiences working with tribal jewelry and the cultures connected to them previously as a professional piercer. These varied paths led me back to drawing and painting, where my meditation practice and love for storytelling through nature infuses into my creative work.
