The musical notations, as written and arranged for piano by Gaines, will be played live by pianist richard valitutto with live video operated by Mads Falcone. 🗣️ A conversation with Rashaad Thomas, poet, freelance journalist, scholar, activist, and genre-fluid artist; and Dr. Rashad Shabazz, Associate Professor of Geography and African American Studies, Arizona State University. 🖼️ An installation by Black River Life’s Artist Collective in the Dorrance Sculpture Garden. 🎵 A sound and visual Installation by Ashley LaRae Sampson and Cierra Holston. 👩‍🏫 Bilingual Docent-led art tours of Charles Gaines: Numbers and Trees (Arizona Series). 🎨 Artmaking activity to create layered portraits inspired by Charles Gaines with Bryan Beckon. ✍️ In-gallery sketching with Aileen Martinez. 🎶 Live music with PhxArt’s resident DJ J-ME LEE. 🌮 Delicious food and drinks from vendors Island Boyz Jerk Spot, Bearded BBQ, Harlem Coffee, El Fogón de Joy and ARTenders. 🚨 PLUS $10 OFF ANY MEMBERSHIP (ON-SITE OFFER ONLY!)
