GET READY, PHX! The summer event is here! The BlakTinx Dance Festival 2024 returns, set to dazzle audiences with a spectacular lineup, celebrating the dance works of Black and Latinx choreographers in our city. Taking place at the Herberger Theater in downtown Phoenix on the KAX stage, this much-anticipated annual event, known for selling out, boasts an exciting roster. This year's lineup includes 8 Arizona choreographers, 2 guest artists from Los Angeles, and our very first invitee from Arizona! Event Details: 📅 August 23-24 at Herberger Theater KAX Featuring: Steven Redondo, Juls Tarango, Rayshawn Watkins, Angela Bass, Emani “Lotus” Spencer, Juan Carlos García Gutiérrez, Ali Adelis, Justin Moore, Primera Generación Dance Collective (PGDC), Stephen & Aisha, and Jorge Edson “Bboy House” Magaña. Show Times: Friday, August 23rd at 7 PM Saturday, August 24th at 2 PM (followed by a Q&A session) Saturday, August 24th at 7 PM About our Guest Artists Primera Generación Dance Collective (PGDC): From L.A./Riverside, PGDC brings Latine corporeality, joy, and loss to the stage. Stephen & Aisha: Riverside, CA-based duet focusing on joy, movement celebration, and storytelling. Edson "House” Magaña: Our first AZ invited guest artist, a trailblazer in Hip Hop dance with over 31 years of experience. About the AZ Artists Justin Moore: Nigerian American teaching artist and performer, founder of OMP Entertainment Group. Stephen & Aisha: Freestyle/improvisation duet collective, passionate about community building through dance. Juls Tarango: Trans Latina performer, blending athletic modern pieces and voguing. Angela Bass: Emerging artist, member of Desert Dance Theatre, AnthroArts Collective, and Bodies Contemporary Company. Emani “Lotus” Spencer: Versatile artist and entrepreneur, founder of LotusXN Productions. Rayshawn Watkins: Full-time teacher and dedicated dance artist, committed to inspiring students. Juan Carlos García Gutiérrez: Multimedia dance artist, founder of The House of Chaos. Steven Redondo: Innovative choreographer contributing dynamic works to the festival.
