23rd Annual Ancient Technology Day

Get ready for a Saturday full of family fun at the S’edav Va’aki Museum’s 23rd annual Ancient Technology Day! Held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Each year S’edav Va’aki Museum blends fun, culture, and technology by hosting a wide array of demonstrators to provide our guests with a richer understanding of Arizona’s unique history and environment. Enjoy a day of fun for the whole family where you can learn about skills and technologies inspired by the practices of the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People. Guests can try their hand at honing their flint knapping skills, and throwing an atlatl with S.A.L.T. Other demonstrations include skills such as basket weaving, etching shell jewelry, ceramic pottery, and bow making. Guests can also visit several demonstrator stations where experts will present skills from early European settlers. Ever wondered how people made bobbin lace or wove blankets? Well, learn more with our special guests the Lacey Ladies and the Teleraña Fiber Arts Guild! And don’t forget to stop by the museum’s adobe brick station where guests can make and take home their own custom bricks. In addition to hands-on demonstrations, families can enjoy free craft activities, and artifact show-and-tell stations. Plus learn about why parrots and bats are important to this site.
