Many years ago, when I was in school, I was in a class to learn watercolor painting. One day, the professor leaned over my shoulder while I was painting and commented, "Good start, don't screw it up by adding a pile of junk or something." Later on, when I mentioned what he had said to me, another teacher told me, "Always remember that art is not a passive form. When you create you should be looking for a reaction. Basically, say something good, say something bad but for God's sake, say something." I took that to heart and have since been fearless in my imagery. Ever since I moved to the desert southwest, I have been fascinated by the colors, the pristine lines, massive skyscapes and endless desolation. I look forward to the remainder of my journey.
