About
Phoenix muralist and artist working on discarded pieces of wood. Bio: Originally from Ohio, Lora Barnhiser has been living in the valley for fifteen years. She attended Bowling Green State University School of Art before relocating to Arizona. Her 18 years of experience teaching Art to students in all age ranges, races and socioeconomic backgrounds has helped shape her into the artist she is today. Generally, she creates her art on discarded pieces of wood. Often painting in watercolor, but other mediums occasionally make an appearance. During the pandemic, she turned to mural making in efforts to get outdoors. Her murals are often in black and white focusing on use of line and pattern. Recently, in efforts to create form, she has begun adding relief sculpture to her murals. “I try to live an eco-friendly life and enjoy maintaining that idea in my artwork.” "I work best when the world throws something at me and says: HERE! What can you make with THIS?"
