About

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Gabriel Bey began his musical journey in 1960 with the trumpet, an instrument that has remained a central pillar of his life and career. Over the decades, Gabriel has graced stages across the globe, from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the canals of Amsterdam, and from the soulful rhythms of South Carolina to the sun-soaked vibes of California. In his early career, Gabriel became deeply embedded in the Cleveland music scene, collaborating with many legendary Motown artists. He also fostered the growth of numerous performing and touring groups, many of which launched their careers with his original compositions. Gabriel’s most recent project, Spooky Kool, produced three albums and numerous singles, which continue to be enjoyed on major streaming platforms. However, the global pandemic marked a turning point, prompting Gabriel to embark on a journey of self-discovery and renewed purpose. Recognizing the wealth of talent in Phoenix, the nation’s fifth-largest city, he began uniting local artists under the banner of “Gabriel Bey and Friends.” This collective approach has become a cornerstone of Gabriel’s mission, emphasizing collaboration and community through free music concerts. His performances are dynamic and engaging, featuring fresh contributions from an ever-evolving ensemble of exceptional artists. Audiences can expect to hear a rich tapestry of influences, including the music of Miles Davis, the melodies of Kenny Garrett, and the grooves of Roy Hargrove, as well as a touch of Prince-inspired creativity as reimagined by Herbie Hancock. Interwoven throughout is Gabriel’s original music, a distinctive voice shaped by his alter ego, Spooky Kool. Though his roots trace back to Cleveland, Gabriel is firmly invested in the future of Arizona. With “Gabriel Bey and Friends,” he continues to inspire and uplift audiences, blending tradition with innovation to create unforgettable musical experiences. Trumpet & Love, Gabriel Bey
