Bullen Taban is a South Sudanese artist raised in Phoenix, Arizona, working primarily with oil paint. His work explores abstraction as a means to communicate emotion beyond language, inviting viewers into a shifting space of perception and feeling. Bullen approaches the canvas with fearless curiosity and an evolving sense of tone, texture, and mood. His pieces often resist a single meaning, instead opening up multiple perspectives depending on who’s looking and how they feel. Through this openness, he hopes his work stirs something unexpected and reminds people that every reaction is valid. “My goal is to create work that makes people feel something, even if they’re not sure what. I want the art to meet people where they are, and maybe even pull them somewhere new.”
