Brad’s award-winning photography career began in 1989 as a photojournalist in the Phoenix metro area. Brad's last full-time position in photojournalism was Director of Photography (DOP) for the 2009 (news division) Pulitzer Prize winning East Valley Tribune. Awarded by the National Press Photographers Association the National Humanitarian Award for not taking pictures but saving the life of a 14 year old boy. Brad has won over 30 Arizona Photojournalism awards Best of the West and Arizona Picture of the Year twice. Brad’s work has been published thousands of times in newspapers and magazines. Featured in the HBO documentary on the late Senator Barry Goldwater “Mr. Conservative”. Brad's portraiture is in the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution Washington D.C. archives. Brad's work has been exhibited in Phoenix and Scottsdale galleries. Brad served as an Adjunct instructor teaching photojournalism 451 as an adjunct instructor at Arizona State Universities Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. January of 2009, Brad started Brad Armstrong Photography. Brad's commercial and editorial work was based on helping businesses communicate there corporate mission through personalized photography. Brad has lived in the Valley since 1983 and continue to work on personal projects ranging from portraiture and landscapes. Brad use multiple formats including digital, medium format, large format 8X10 analog photography. Lastly, but not necessarily relevant but does reflect on Brad's work ethic. Division One All-American Athlete, inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Northern Arizona University. NJCAA All-American and lastly a New York State high school state record holder and All-American. As you can see Brad is passionate and committed to life around him and his work.
