About

Bela Fidel is a mixed media artist working in Arizona. Bela’s body of work is informed by her experiences shaped by having lived in three different countries and her exposure to their culture and outlook on life. This can be felt in the rich layering and texturing of her abstract work in oils, encaustics and mixed media. Bela is also passionate about animals, both domestic and wild. Her love and compassion for all sentient creatures led her to create a series in oils, “Endangered, Threatened and Exploited Species”, with an aim to raising people’s awareness about the plight of these animals. Bela has been showing her work for many decades at a variety of art venues, both in Los Angeles and in Arizona. Throughout the years she has been the recipient of prizes, commendations and media publicity. Bela strives to continue to distill her truest personal expression through constant exploration, venturing into new territories while staying true to her fidelity to elegant aesthetics. Bela’s intention and drive are to express both the passion of drama and the softness of poetry. These are expressed with contrasts of raw brushstrokes versus smooth and polished; of soft and quiet passages versus a dash of drama. While she aims at expressing her Being in paint, these characteristics are universal and are found in all of us: in the richness and layers of our emotions; in the drama and poetry of the everyday; in the quiet corners of our hearts that come affluter with the slightest dash of hope and joy.
