Experimental video art and sound installations for immersive spaces

About

Chris Piraino’s practice grew from a background in sculpture, electronics, and live performance. Over time, this evolved into experimental sound and video installations built from custom systems, generative processes, and improvisation. His work reflects a long-term interest in how technology, memory, and space shape experience—particularly through the interaction of color and sound in real time. Influenced by Fluxus and Dada sensibilities, Piraino approaches art as an active, temporal process rather than a fixed object. Performance, chance, and systems that reveal their own mechanics play a central role in his work. He is drawn to environments where sound, image, and structure remain visibly “in motion,” inviting audiences to notice the relationships between signal, space, and perception as they unfold. His earliest creative works reflected a fascination with post-industrial aesthetics, and autonomy. That early project established a lasting curiosity about the tension between technology and society, and how people rely on systems they rarely understand. Today, Piraino continues to build his own tools and platforms, using them not only for personal exploration but also to encourage collaboration and experimentation among other artists, emphasizing process, curiosity, and shared discovery over polish or spectacle.
