About

Jalila grew up in a home full of creativity, with the love of books, art & food. Studying art at the Intercity Cultural Center in Los Angeles in her youth, her original paintings come from the heart and soul and is a reflection of a multicultural upbringing and experiences. Blending jazz, dance, Black love, geekdom and beauty. She has a rich cultural background of Irish, Native American and African descent. In high school, her instructor Burdell Moody planted the right seeds for her to branch out, later continuing her art education in college. She has had her work displayed and featured around the valley, from Phoenix’s First Fridays, various art shows, Galleries, bookstores, restaurants and coffee houses. Jalila also teaches summer school art classes and host traveling “sip and paint” classes. She is constantly challenged and inspired by finding new methods of artistic expression and learning new techniques. She also wood burns and makes rag dolls. You can always find her doing something creative and surrounding herself with friends and family. She pours out her rich history of culture, family & music in every piece of art. Jalila has also been a Trekkie her whole life. With an intensive Star Trek collection of books, figures, and other memorabilia. Uhura being who has drawn her in as a young black woman. She is most often her subject in paintings. “I Love for people to look at my work and smile… I love when people put names and stories behind my painting as their very own! I want to share my passion with the world. I want original art in every home.”
